Join us in Celebrating Moline Township’s Years of Service

Tuesday, November 2025, 11 AM – 1 PM in Johnston Hall.  Refreshments will be served while supplies last.

Moline was established in 1848 in Rock Island County, which began operating under the township form of government after the Illinois Constitution of 1848. Moline’s government is part of this system, and South Moline Township was later formed from Moline Township in 1879. Moline’s history as a settlement is tied to the development of industry and the arrival of immigrants, particularly Swedes and Belgians, who found work in the machine manufacturing and farm implement businesses founded by John Deere and others.

General Assistance

Our Township provides food cards, job search, rent assistance and other emergency relief for men & women.  Our Township is hands-on with the youth in our Township, supporting our grade schools, youth sports, and The Boys & Girls Club. These are just a few of the many resources available to those in hardship.

Property Assessment

Townships establish the value of all real property in the township. The township assessor, in fact, is the only elected governmental official who must pass approved courses of instruction before standing for election to office.
