ATTENTION
ROCK ISLAND COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS
AGE 65 YEARS OR OLDER.
On September 15, 2009, the Rock
Island County Board passed Resolution 2009-0917
which eliminates the need for citizens age 65
or older to reapply annually for the Senior
Homestead Exemption. This Resolution takes effect
beginning with the January 1, 2010 assessment
year.
You will still need to make an
original application for the Senior Homestead
Exemption during the year in which you turn
65 years of age.
If your annual income is $55,000
or less, you will need to make an annual application
for the Senior Freeze Homestead Exemption. If
you have received this Freeze Exemption the
previous year, you will be mailed a new application
for the 2010 assessment year. If you did not
receive the Senior Freeze Homestead Exemption
in the previous year, you will need to come
into our office to make an application. Please
bring your 2009 Federal Income Tax return with
you when applying for this Exemption. Applications
can also be made at your local Township Assessor's
office.
